Where does the name Thulium come from?

By Theodore Cleve of Sweden discovered holmium in 1879 while working on erbium earth (erbium oxide). Thulium oxide (Holmia) was present as an impurity in the Erbia. The element is named after Thule, the ancient name for Scandinavia.

Where is scandium found on earth?

Source: Scandium does not occur freely in nature, but in minute amounts in over 800 minerals. Rare minerals from Scandinavia and Madagascar (Thorveitite, euxenite, and gadolinite) are the only known concentrated sources of the element.
